This repeat client came back to finish their upstairs bath after having already updated the kitchen and main floor bath in their historic home in Denver's Park Hill Historic District. As the only bathroom on the bedroom level, it needed to serve four users, ages 5 to adult. Some preferred showers; others were bath people. We had a teenage girl in the mix. We had a small, fixed footprint to meet the needs of the entire family. And, of course, keeping in the spirit of the home's history was a driving force.
Creative problem solving was required to meet the items on the wish list — a tub/shower combination that felt luxurious, upgraded lighting, more storage, and a bidet. We couldn't comfortably fit a standard depth vanity in any width, so we had to create storage elsewhere. Our solution became a jeweled quartzite floating counter and cabinetry over the radiator, with a corner makeup vanity, complete with lighted makeup mirror and cozy stool that tucks in neatly. The space was completed with a stunning green marble and brass console sink, Zellige-look wall tile in a playful pattern, and mosaic marble on the floor. We swapped a pair of single sconces with doubles, further multiplying our light by upgrading to LED and adding a wet rated light in the shower. The tub and shower area boasts separate controls for a luxurious soak, a steamy everything shower with rain head, or a speed shower. Nothing about this bath is conventional. It's perfectly personal, as great design should be.
